Planning a funeral service can be a very difficult process for families who have just lost a loved one. But it’s important to provide those who are grieving with a supportive environment in which they can begin to find closure, say goodbye, and come to terms with the loss. Gathering with friends and family gives everyone the opportunity to connect, share memories, offer words of sympathy, and create a lasting network of comfort and support as they start the journey toward healing.
Burial Services

There are several burial service options available, each designed to honor your loved one in a way that reflects your family’s needs and preferences:

-
Immediate Burial: A simple option in which your loved one is buried or entombed without a public service or gathering.
-
Visitation: Also known as a viewing, wake, or calling hours, this allows family and friends to spend time with their loved one—either in an open or closed casket—to say goodbye and offer support to one another.
-
Funeral or Memorial Service: Held at a funeral home, church, or even in a family home, this ceremony honors and celebrates the life of the deceased. Whether traditional or personalized, these services can be tailored to reflect your loved one’s story, values, and personality.
-
Graveside, Chapel, or Committal Service: Hosted at the cemetery, this service allows family and friends to gather as their loved one is laid to rest through ground burial.

Cremation Services

Many people believe that choosing cremation means you cannot have a funeral service or visitation. This is one of the biggest misconceptions. Families can absolutely hold a viewing, visitation, or memorial service to honor and celebrate their loved one’s life. Cremation simply offers additional flexibility and options for final disposition. After the cremation and any memorial services, you have several meaningful ways to lay your loved one to rest:
-
Interment: Cremated remains can be buried or entombed in a family plot, memorial site, cremation niche, urn garden, or other indoor or outdoor locations. Our staff can provide a full list of options.
-
Graveside Service: Similar to a traditional burial, family and friends may gather at the cemetery as the cremated remains are laid to rest, offering prayers or other personal tributes.
-
Scattering: Ashes may be scattered in a memorial garden, cemetery, over water, or at another meaningful location. Families may also choose to scatter a portion of the remains and keep the rest in an urn.
-
Multiple Urns: Cremated remains can be divided into multiple urns, allowing family members in different locations to each keep a portion of their loved one’s final resting place close to them.

GRIEF & FAMILY SUPPORT
At Gus Camacho, Jr. Funeral Home and Cremations, we understand that our role does not end when services are complete. Grief does not follow a timeline, nor does it conclude after a ceremony. It continues to show up in quiet moments, in unexpected waves, and in the ongoing process of learning how to live in a world that has changed.
This understanding is deeply rooted in our family’s history. Our work has always been about more than logistics it has been about showing up for families during some of the most emotionally heavy moments of their lives, with steadiness, respect, and care.
As part of our commitment to supporting families beyond the service, we offer Grief & Family Support Services, led by Amanda Camacho-Timonere, LMHC, who grew up within this work and now guides this department with intention and compassion.
From an early age, Amanda witnessed the importance of presence in rooms filled with grief learning that comfort does not always come from words, but from being willing to sit with what is difficult. This perspective continues to shape the way we support families today.

We recognize that grief is not something to “move through” or complete. It is a lifelong journey that evolves over time. In the early stages of loss, families are often at their most vulnerable navigating powerful emotions while trying to understand life without their loved one. While funeral services provide an essential moment of remembrance, the aftermath of grief is where many families need continued support.

That is where this work comes in.

Through guided reflection, ritual-based ceremonies, and intentional spaces for remembrance and release, we offer families an opportunity to pause, be witnessed, and begin to integrate their loss in a way that feels personal and meaningful. These services are not therapy, but compassionate support designed to honor grief and the ongoing connection families carry with those they have lost.

Amanda is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, and this work is approached with a trauma-informed, gentle, and respectful lens. At the heart of our philosophy is the belief that there is no right way to grieve … only your way.

It is our honor to walk alongside families not only in moments of farewell, but in the journey that follows offering care, presence, and support every step of the way.
We pride ourselves on our dedication to families during their time of need. Here’s how we've made a difference.
